 I've been teaching in various settings for about 15 years. Throughout this time I have noticed what I like to embrace as my 'signature style' is the incorporation of art elements and principles into all my classes. My classes include a technique, if not multiple techniques, and a finished project but the real intention of each class is to learn something about design that you will never forget. That is an ongoing process and embodies all the passion of creativity. The classes I am most passionate about are making faces, painting portraits on canvas, and making art dolls. These are offered several times each year and represent a high degree of challenge and equal reward. Some require pre-requisites as familiarity with the clay or an advanced technique is appropriate. Students in these classes will have a finished, completed work of art worth several times the investment of the class. If you are looking for basic and thorough instruction on the polymer medium, I offer a set of 'Introduction to' series classes where a single technique, application or design feature is addressed. Currently I am teaching regularly at OOAK Gallery in Micaville, NC my home studio in Mars Hill NC (private lessons) and have several full week classes scheduled in fall of 2013 at William Holland Lapidary School in the North Georgia Mountains. I also have guest teaching appearances this year at the Beaded frog in Greenville, SC, TRAC Gallery in Spruce Pine, Grovewood gallery in Asheville, and Carolina Stamper in Beaufort SC. Metal Clays, Cold connections, Fiber, Wire, Painting, Encaustic and Collage classes are being developed and posted continually. There are of course times when the clay or metal or fiber itself just 'entertains' - and I have included those types of classes just to get acquainted with the mediums and enjoy the freedom creativity provides.
